Grubwithus
Grubwithus is a social dining network that aims to bring groups of like-minded people together to share a meal in one of the company's partner restaurants. Registered users of Grubwithus sign up through the service for a fixed-price, family style dinner (typically 6-10 people) centered around a specific interest and location – for example, “travel enthusiasts of Los Angeles”, or “amateur magicians in Silicon Valley”.
Although some meals are arranged directly by the Grubwithus team or through partner restaurants, many events are created directly by users up to 3 months in advance. As of January 2013, Grubwithus claims a community of 85,000 users and to have organized meals in over 50 cities worldwide.
In January 2013, Grubwithus launched a new mobile application, GrubTonight, which encourages more spontaneous use of the service by encouraging same-day sign-ups to the upcoming night's array of fixed-price meals.
The meals associated with GrubTonight don't have a theme; they exist to encourage social interaction. While the company plans on expanding the scope of GrubTonight, presently it services only Los Angeles.
